The REAL Deal: Cask ale tapping

As part of the CT Beer Trail’s Ales of Honor: Local Beer Supporting Local Troops, this Thursday night the Cambridge House Brew Pub of Granby will be tapping a cask of some real ale! Real ale, you ask? Is there fake ale? Let me explain.

Cask ale, also known as “real ale” is simply the term for unfiltered, unpasteurized beer, with no added carbon dioxide. This beer goes through the first primary fermentation stage and then is typically transferred to another container where secondary fermentation and conditioning (aging/maturing) takes place… i.e. a cask. So essentially, real ale, is just that…

NOW, we will tapping our cask this Thursday night, August 1st. We took our tasty Farmer’s Daughter and threw in some pink peppercorns and honey and can hardly wait to share it with you!

For those of you new to the blog or to some of our brews, the Farmer’s Daughter is our saison, or “farmhouse ale.” Refer to the previous blog to learn more about saisons.

So come in this Thursday night, bring your friends, your fam, your date, your neighbor! And try out this special batch. It’s sure to please. See you there!
