The Story of The Cambridge House Brew Pub
The Cambridge House Brew Pub has been part of Granby since 2005. Founded by Steve Boucino and Scott Scanlon with alot of help from brewer Steve Schmidt, it quickly became known for craft beers. Signature brews like the award-winning Kolsch and Three Steve Stout and IPA put us on the map. A space was created where people could enjoy real beer and great food in a welcoming environment.
Overcoming Challenges and Growing Stronger
By 2008 the Cambridge House Brew Pub had expanded, opening a second location in Torrington. Financial, management and legal troubles followed. Then in October 2009 Scott Riley bought the troubled brew pub’s Granby location. Soon afterwards the location in Torrington was closed. Under Scott Riley’s leadership, the brewpub stayed true to its mission, focusing on craft beers, real food and a friendly atmosphere that keeps customers coming back.
Adapting Through Difficult Times
The Cambridge House Brew Pub has faced many obstacles over the years, including the economic downturn in 2009 and the extreme challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. Through it all, we stayed strong by adapting. We put more focus on real food, enhanced our takeout services, and explored new ways to bring people together, such as hosting events and expanding our menu options.
